The investigation into the alleged custodial death of 25-year-old Gade Sai Krishna has entered a crucial phase after the Central Bureau of Investigation took over the case from Andhra Pradesh police. The CBI registered a fresh FIR and inspected Krishnalanka police station, where Sai Krishna was reportedly detained and questioned. Investigators began collecting technical evidence with forensic experts and took possession of records and material gathered by the earlier special investigation team. The Andhra Pradesh High Court had ordered the CBI probe on October 16 and directed the state government to pay ₹25 lakh in compensation to the victim’s mother within four weeks. The central agency is now examining the circumstances of the death and the possible responsibility of police personnel.
