Six-year-old girl’s death sparks fury; suspect detained in Prakasam district

A child’s death has shaken Chadalawada village in Prakasam district and triggered demands for swift justice. A six-year-old girl was allegedly sexually assaulted and murdered on October 25 night. Police suspect a 25-year-old man who was reportedly known to the family. The child was found during a search in the early hours of Monday and taken to hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Villagers and relatives protested on the Ongole–Chirala road, demanding strict punishment for the accused. Police held talks with the protesters, who later withdrew the blockade after officials assured them of legal action. A suspect was subsequently detained, according to a report published on October 27. Investigators are collecting evidence to establish the full circumstances of the crime.
