The Congress leadership in Telangana has set an ambitious target of 100 Assembly seats in the next election, signalling its intention to retain power despite challenges over governance and welfare delivery. TPCC president B Mahesh Kumar Goud has expressed confidence that the party's schemes and employment initiatives will help it maintain public support.
Goud has also played down the electoral threat from the BRS and BJP. His remarks reflect the party's political assessment rather than a forecast of the eventual result. Opposition parties are expected to focus on drought, farmers' concerns and the implementation of welfare promises. The Congress's ability to turn its claims of progress into sustained public support will be central to its electoral prospects.
